Sabres home telecasts go HD
Ask, and ye shall receive.
On the video scoreboard thread, a reader wondered what the installation of a new high-definition system in HSBC Arena would mean for Sabres telecasts this season. The reader theorized that an HD scoreboard wouldn't be of any use without HD cameras and the other equipment that would be compatible with producing broadcasts.
So I had the chance to ask around at the arena today, and learned the Sabres will televise their home games only in HD. Although road games will remain in standard definition for now, more and more away dates will be upgraded in future seasons.

The question is, will Crime Warner actually give us MSGHD or not?

Todd, that is indeed a good question.

Yea, exactly. HD cameras are great. But we need an HD network to show them here.
I believe the only sports networks TWC offers here in HD are ESPN and ESPN2, neither of which show any Sabres games.
And even if TWC did offer HD networks that showed games, will those networks decide to show those games in HD on gameday?
Can anyone decipher the abbreviations Sabres.com uses to indicate which network is showing each game?

Tim,
Thanks so much for looking into this!
I've emailed Time Warner Buffalo yet again, this time I received a message that my question is being forwarded to the programming department. They offer MSGHD and FSNHD in the albany market. If the Sabres will be broadcasting homegames in HD this means they'll be on MSGHD.
Everyone else,
If you want MSGHD let Time Warner know!
