well, we started out strong. The past 3 games, we just plain sucked. Ryan Miller...world class goalie...

All I have to sy which I have been saying for the last couple of years and when they redigned Miller for all theat money. Miller is not a goalie thats foing to lead you to a stanley cup. The only time he looks like an elite goalie is when the team in front of him is playing really well which isn't often. An elite goalie is one who can come up big when the team is playing poorly. Miller just can't do it. Biggest mistake trading Marty Biron!!!!

Miller has been off, I'll give you that. but if you think that Marty biron is the answer then I don't think you understand the situation. Marty biron is getting booed out of Philly. He has lost his #1 goalie status and is battling hard just to get into games. His consistency issues are way worse than Miller! I'm not happy with Miller right now either, but he has the mental game to be great, he just needs to work through this tough stretch. Personally I think he lacks energy and emotion on the ice, like he is trying to be too perfect. Stop worrying about being perfect with positioning and angles and just stop the puck! For that matter the whole team looks like they lack energy! They are reacting not initiating......they'll work through it. I think the two games this weekend at home could determine the mental makeup for the rest of the season......Big weekend

You destroyed the credibility of your entire post with that one sentence. So, after 100 words of ripping Miller you say you want a goaltender with a WORSE GAA, SV% and record than Miller? That makes sense. But not at all.

You ruined the credibility of your entire statement with that one sentence. You spend 100 words bemoaning Miller and then you ask for a goaltender with a worse record, GAA and SV% than Miller. Fantastic idea.

This team has become completely unraveled. They allowed only 13 regulation goals in the first 8 games. This has ballooned to 39 in the last 10 games, even with 2 shutouts recorded (so it's really 39 goals in 8 games). Ruff needs to get them back to playing defense the way they started the season. No more of this "we did some things good," "we still are off to a good start," or "we can dominate in some aspects of the game." The reality is that your team is playing awful and you are the guy who's expected to do something about it.

Don, I agree-- Lindy has to do something about this- if he can't,(and I hate saying this)maybe it's time to bring in someone else.

I actually felt like the line of Pominville, Hecht, and Vanek played really well in this game. The rest of the team, not so much though...

I really do not think that replacing Ruff is the answer.

I agree that Miller has not been consistent , but did you count the turnovers by our def in our own zone last nite. The 1st period they coughed it up numerous times. Our def does not like getting hit and they were rushing rto get rid of the puck. Our forwards alos have to do a better job on the back check to pick up the right guy. Miller is still the same goalie that had back to back shut outs. It takes a disciplined team effort to keep scoring chances down. This team needs a shake up. When is the last time we have made any trades during the season. We need to bring in a little different mix. Theyu know they can not be sent down so lets trade some parts.

All goalies, even the best, will have hot and cold streaks over the course of a season. Obviously Miller wasn't going to maintain the level of play he was at during the back-to-back shutouts. And he's not going to be as off as he seems now.

What is more troubling is the complete about-face of the team defense. Not just the defensemen making turnovers, but also a lack of backchecking from the forwards. Its as if a number of the Sabres decided after winning a few games at the start of the season they are good enough not to need to play with maximum effort each game. Unfortunately, that almost always results in a loss in the NHL, unless you're fortunate enough to go up against an equally deluded opponent.

I just got off the phone with Darcy. He said not to worry that they think they got it all figured out. In addition to rotating lines, Lindy Ruff, Brian McCutcheon and James Patrick will rotate where they stand behind the bench.

Darcy's a genius.

It's time that some of the players on the roster to be let go...obviously keeping them here on both short and long run won't do any good to the team.I would let Max, Timmy, Hank, Staff go and get a couple of players from the farm and buy a solid two way center and a strong defenseman.
